How To Make Your Mornings Brighter

Recently I've been feeling a bit 'meh' when waking up, really not wanting to get out of bed, feeling tired and having to really force myself up so I decided to change up my routine a bit.  Here's what I found helps:

Green Tea or Berocca

I know most people love a coffee in the morning but I've never been a fan.  A green tea or water with Berocca does it for me.  It gives me an energy boost without the lull later on or a headache.  I actually really like the taste of green tea but if you don't you can get flavoured varieties too just watch the sugar content!

Music

I have a radio alarm clocks that plays Radio 1 (Nick Grimshaw) every morning to wake me up and if a good song is playing it instantly puts me in a better mood and sometimes I find myself jumping up and having a little dance (cos I'm weird like that) so switch on the radio or your laptop and get in the groove!

Sunlight

I always find it easier to get up in the summer than the winter so opening the blinds can really lift your mood or leave them open the night before like I do.  Plus, sunlight boosts your body's level of serotonin which is your happy hormone and it has been proven that sunlight can actually reduce depression so go get you some sunshine!

Stretching

I LOVE a good stretch in the mornings.  Honestly, try it, it feels so good!  You can even do it whilst you're still lying in bed.  Just move yourself around, twisting your torso and pulling your limbs from side to side.  This will instantly make you feel more awake and ready for the day.  Just be careful not to over stretch!

Shower

I think this goes without saying but having a shower and the feeling of the water hitting your body can really wake you up and make you feel good.  If you don't have time to shower in the mornings and prefer to do it in the evenings, you can always just splash your face with cold water instead.

Cuddles

Cuddling your loved one, children, pets, post man, anyone!  Just taking a few minutes to hug it out and forget the stress of the day ahead will brighten your mood.

How do you brighten your mornings?

  1. These are such great tips, and I'm definitely going to start trying these to stop feeling so sluggish when I wake up. This morning I managed to pour my cereal into a mug instead of a bowl, so I definitely need a change haha! I have music as an alarm on my phone, but soon have to change the song as I start associating it with snoozing my alarm - so definitely think its time Grimmy woke me up :) x

  2. Great post! I'm not a morning person at all, and sunlight is a must for me! That's why I can't get out of bed on rainy days, haha. Please check out my blog if you get the chance :)
