Las Vegas Travel Guide

What To Do and See

Las Vegas is known as an adult's playground and there is just so much to see and do you will always run out of time.  But that's okay because then you have an excuse to go back!  I was there for 5 nights and we managed to pack in quite a lot.  As it was our first time too we wanted to do a lot of the main tourist attractions.

We went to see David Guetta at XS nightclub in the Encore hotel and he was amazing as ever.  If clubbing is your thing definitely go to XS as it's one of the best clubs there and always has performances from big artists.

We went to see a show which Vegas is quite famous for.  There are so many shows to choose from but as it was our first time we were recommended Vegas The Show as this gives a history of Las Vegas from when it started in the 1940s and includes lots of singing and dancing!

We booked a trip to the Grand Canyon with a tour company.  This is a really good idea if you want to see it.  They pick you up at 7am and stop for breakfast on the way.  It's then a two and a half hour drive to Grand Canyon West in Arizona with a stop at the Hoover Dam.  You're there for about 3 hours and have a jump-on-jump-off bus that takes you around.  You also get lunch and then dropped back to your hotel around 5pm.  This cost us $150.

We bought an all day bus pass for $6 and went to the shopping outlets (more on that below) we also took the bus to the Las Vegas sign and queued up for a cheesy photo.  We only had to wait about 10 minutes for this so not too bad.  Later than evening we took the bus to the Freemont Street Experience which was actually my favourite place to be, my friend did the zip wire!  It's so much fun here but chilled out at the same time.  We then went to the Stratosphere hotel and up to their looking tower to get a view of Vegas at night, amazing!

Where to Eat

Now that I'm vegan I always worry when I travel that I won't find something to eat and I was especially worried about Vegas.  However, there were quite a lot of places to eat on a plant based diet and you KNOW the world is changing when you can get a vegan meal in Vegas.  The places I ate for vegan food were:

Dennys
P F Changs
Various Mexican restaurants
Outback Steakhouse
The Coffee Bean

Where to Shop

The shops are actually amazing in Vegas and a lot of the hotels have their own shopping malls inside them with all the big designer brands.  However, I love visiting the Premium Outlet Malls when I'm in America and picking up some bargains.  They have two in Vegas, one each end of the strip.  We only visited the North outlet as we decided they had more shops that we liked.  I bought clothes from Nike, Gap, Ralph Lauren and Banana Republic and got between 50-90% off.  I will do a full post on what I bought.

They also have Sephora and lots of drugstores for makeup and skincare shopping but I saved that for when we went to LA.  You can see what I bought here.

Where to Stay

Obviously the main place for action in Las Vegas is Las Vegas Boulevard AKA "The Strip" so most people will stay along here especially if you want to be in the heart of the action and be able to walk everywhere.  We stayed at Treasure Island which is right in the middle of the strip so a perfect location and not too pricey either.

I hope this helps!  Please leave anymore Las Vegas tips below :)
